Memorial serrvice for famous author held in St. Petersburg

A memorial service for the famous Russian science fiction author Boris Strugatsky was held in St. Petersburg today, Ekho Moskvy reports.

Boris Strugatsky together with his brother Arkadiy (died in 1991) authored many books loved by generations of Russian readers. In their works they mocked the Soviet system and praised freedom.

Boris Strugatsky was also known for his vehement criticism of the Vladimir Putin regime. As well as Lyudmila Ulitskaya and other prominent authors, Strugatsky has published a series of dialogues with jailed Putin opponent Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
