The Federal Migration Service of Russia has published statistics on the number of immigrants residing in the country. As of December 14, 2012 there are 10.3 million foreigners residing in Russia. 1 million came to Russia as tourists or on a short business trip. More than 3 million guests live in Russia for over a year.
Uzbek citizens constitute the majority of immigrants - about 2.3 million people. They are followed by citizens of Ukraine (1.4 million), Tajikistan (1.1 million) Azerbaijan (620 thousand) and Kyrgyzstan (540 thousand).
