Russian President Vladimir Putin has had a council attended by his plenipotentiary envoys to federal districts. They discussed economic and social development in the light of orders given in May, RIA Novosti reports.
Special attention was paid to interethnic relations. Putin said that religious extremists will not scare worshippers of traditional Islam.
The president noted that interethnic harmony needed constant support. Events of the past years demonstrate activation of extremists of different religions. Worshippers of Islam were being threatened.
Putin expressed confidence that people trying to threaten religious figures were destined to fail. He added that people serving God needed help and support.
President Putin reminded that the strategy for state national policy was passed in December 2012. It will be active until 2025. The document requires cooperation of the federal center and regions with the help of plenipotentiary envoys.
