Ukraine is investigating the causes of the An-24 Odessa-Donetsk charter flight of the Southern Airlines at the Donetsk International Airport of S. Prokofiev. The plane went off the runaway and turned over, causing fumigation, Channel Five reports.
The plane carried 8 crew members and 42 passengers, including football fans on their way for the 1/8 final of the League of Champions to see the Donetsk Shakhtyor FC vs. Borussia FC (Dortmund, Germany). Five people died. The match started with a minute of silence.
People say that they were saved by a break in the fuselage.
A commission was formed to investigate the accident. A criminal case was initiated for violation of air traffic rules.
Vice Premier Alexander Vilkul is heading the governmental commission.
