Georgia concerned about declining birth rate

The Georgian authorities are concerned about the demographic situation

in the country. Today in Tbilisi Tamara Chiburdanidze promised to

create a foundation for the demographic development of the country

because the birth rate in Georgia is declining.

According to activists, the foundation will focus on neutralizing 15

demographic threats and explain to the population the possible problems

in Georgia in connection with a reduction in fertility.

At present the UN Population Fund predicts that by 2050 the population

of Georgia will reduce by 1.17 million people, Chiburdanidze reported.
