30,000 people in Armenia remain without water supplies

As the result of the construction of a new hydropower station on the river Argich, some 7 residential areas with a total population of more than 30.000 people remain without water supplies, Armenia Today reports, citing one of the residents of the affected territories.
In protest against the suspension in water supplies, local citizens have blocked the road between the villages of Lichk and Nerkin Getashen. As a result of the construction, the river Gailadzoz has changed its direction, a violation of several local and international laws.
Protesters sent a letter to the Armenian president on June 13, but have yet to receive a response.
