CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha has presented a report on information and analysis at the CSTO Analytical Association. Experts attending the meeting discussed signing of a memorandum on formation of an expert association of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The Institute for Caspian Cooperation, Institute for Economic Strategies of the RAS and the ECOOM Analytical Center of Minsk are its initiators.
Bordyuzha said that the main goal of the CSTO was collective security. The organization focused on fighting drug trafficking and information security, but paid little attention to analysis, especially studies of the situation in Afghanistan.
Sergey Mikheyev told Vestnik Kavkaza that development of the “right image” of the CSTO was one of the main goals of the organization. The only problem was the need for a more detailed and balanced evaluation of the structure.
