Two militants were found dead in a house basement in Semender on the outskirts of Makhachkala, RIA Novosti reports.
The militants were surrounded yesterday. One officer died in the shootout and two were injured, according to unofficial data.
The police say that one of the militants could be Ibragim Gajidadayev, a local from Gimry in the Unsukulsky District and head of the Gimrinskaya Gang. The militant is on the federal wanter list for murder of Dagestani MP Gazimagomed Magomedov. Gajidadayev called himself the organizer of Dagestani Interior Minister Adilgerey Magomedtagirov’s murder.
Locals had protests against the counter-terrorism operation regime. The OMON special police unit stopped the protesters.
