Prosecutors will check expulsion of a student from Dagestan studying at the Krasnoyarsk State Medical University. According to a TV report, she was expelled for wearing a hijab, RIA Novosti cites senior assistant of the prosecutor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Yelena Pimonenko.
Press secretary of the university Anna Astafyeva confirmed the expulsion for violating the order. According to rules adopted in early February 2013, coats, beach clothes and shoes, headwear (except medical headwear) and religious clothes were banned.
Muslims were prohibited to wear hijabs at a village schools in the Stavropol Territory in October 2012. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out against wearing hijabs at schools and proposed restoration of school uniforms.
