Russia to celebrate End of WW II Day

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev signed an amendment to the Federal Law's 11th paragraph "On Days of Military Honour and Commemorative Dates in Russia". The law was passed in the Russian State Duma on the 7th June 2010, and approved by the Federation Council on the 14th July, ITAR-TASS informs.

The revision of the law creates a new commemorative date in Russia: 2nd September: the End of WW II Day (1945)

The Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on September the 2nd by all the Allies, including the Soviet Union, ending WW II.
