Russia celebrates Navy Day

The traditional Navy Day celebration is being held today in Sebastopol. The festival started with a state flag-raising ceremony on the Black Sea Fleet vessels, 'Vesti' reports.
A Ukrainian and Russian fleet of 22 warships and 29 other vessels performed a parade as part of the festivities. The famous 95-year "Communa" ship ("Volkhov" of Imperial Fleet) also participated in the manoeuvres. Vice-admiral Vladimir Korolev inspected the parade, ITAR-TASS reports.
A delegation of Russian Army and Navy officers and emigrants took part in the ceremony. The Mayor of Moscow, Yury Luzhkov, also assisted at the event.
Various entertainments and a concert by the Black Sea Fleet Staff Orchestra closed the celebration.
