School uniforms for Muslims might be introduced in Russia

Some regions of Russia might introduce special school uniforms for Muslim pupils. The school uniform in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan and in the republics of the North Caucasus might include hijabs.

Recently, the Ministry of Education of Tatarstan has stated that wearing hijabs violates sanitary norms. The head of the press-service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the republic, Alsou Mukhametova, said that wearing hijabs in schools can have a negative impact on the eyesight of students.
Earlier, prosecutors warned the leadership of one of the Nizhnekamsk schools for prayers being read in the school.
