UN to help Iran recover from earthquake

The UN will provide Iran with humanitarian and financial support to recover from the earthquake in Bushehr, RIA Novosti cites UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon.


The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.3 points and happened 91km away from Bushehr at a depth of 10km. Over 30 quakes were registered.
The nuclear power plant in the area was not affected.


37 people died and 850 were injured, including 70 gravely injured. Kaki, Hormudzh and Kengan were totally destroyed. A mountain piece crashed in Shombe. Three-day mourning was announced in Bushehr.


An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 was registered in Abadan in the Khuzestan Province and 3.9 points in Kiyazer of the Mazandaran Province.
