Azerbaijan to stop analogue broadcasting

 

Analogue broadcasting will be suspended in Azerbaijan after 2013, Deputy Communications and IT Minister Elmir Velizade told journalists on Friday,Trend. reports 

He said the expansion of digital television signals up to 2012 does not suggest that the transition will be forced, digital and analogue broadcasts will be transmitted in parallel by late 2013.

"During this period, citizens will be offered conditions to purchase the necessary equipment (a decoder) for digital reception. The market also has televisions supporting the new broadcast standard that do not require purchase of additional equipment," Velizade said.

Ddigital broadcasting covers Baku, Ganja, Shirvan, Lerik, Lankaran and nearby areas. Analogue transmissions will be gradually stopped after the complete coverage of Azerbaijan by digital TV signal.
