Pre-trial hearings of Ali Taziyev, a leader of the Caucasus Emirate, have started in the North Caucasus District military Court of Rostov-on-Don, RIA Novosti reports.
Taziyev, nicknamed Magas, has been charged with 24 terrorist actions. The case involves over 600 sufferers and over 400 witnesses. Taziyev is suspected of illegal armed formations, rebellion, trafficking weapons and ammo, production of weapons, banditism, terrorism and attacks on law enforcers.
Taziyev’s gang blew up a bus in Nevinnomyssk in December 2007, killing three and injuring 17, a police building in the Nazranovsky District of Ingushetia in August 2009, killing 21 and injuring 289 people. His henchmen attacked Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov in June 2009. Two bodyguards died, two other people were injured, including Yevkurov.
