First perspective projects announced at first Caucasian youth forum

Report from the first Caucasian forum of Russian youth – Dombay


The first discussions of projects developed by Russian youth on ‘Caucasian problems’ opened on July 28th, 2010. Vestnik Kavkaza provides informational support at the forum and plays the role of an expert, an independent judge and observer.


Here are some of the most significant projects presented:


- the necessity to establish an all-Russian interreligious council of youth. The organization will for religious cooperation within education institutions, communities, non-governmental organizations that unite youth of various nationalities and confessions. The council should spread information about the basics of religions in Russia, cope with poor knowledge of religion, prevent xenophobia;


- establishment of a Russian-Arab Internet-portal for better knowledge of the Arab world, an opportunity for cultural, religious, educational, economic and friendly contacts with the youth of the Arab world;

- development of the program of intercivilization festival ‘Russia-Orient’ and ‘Caucasus as a bridge between civilizations’ to develop Russian political and cultural influence in the Asian region (at the forum the delegates talked about the importance of holding the first of such festivals in Chechnya, the second – in Afghanistan);


- establishment of a children’s health-improving camp in the North Caucasus basing on Artek principle. In the USSR Artek was an international conductor of Soviet ideas, promoting popularization of the country in the western world, on African continent. The new camp will teach tolerance, mutual respect, and absence of fear before Caucasus among Russian children of various nationalities since childhood.


Ramzan Abdulatipov, Doctor of Philosophy, former minister of nationalities, was invited as a special guest and the judge of the forum. He gave lectures on various issues of modern Russia. He talked about Russian policy, education, culture.
He urged Caucasians to properly represent Caucasus and get rid of criminal and ignorant elements
