Ramadan Abdulatipov raises Putin's rating in Dagestan: opinion poll

The people of Dagestan are positive about the first hundred days in office of Ramadan Abdulatipov, the Acting President of the Republic of Dagestan. These results come from the sociologists of the regional movement "Native Dagestan" and the fund "People's Opinion", which conducted the survey. A total of 1,650 respondents aged over 18 were interviewed.According to the head of the movement "Native Dagestan" and the President of the "People's Opinion" Fund, Habib Davudov, 91% of respondents perceive the first 100 days in office of the interim president positively.  "The opposite opinion was expressed by 2.1% of respondents, while 6.8% of respondents were undecided. None of the leaders of North Caucasus Federal District has ever reached such a quick level of support after the first 100 days of their leadership," RIA Dagestan quotes Davudov.The survey also recorded that the appointment of Ramadan Abdulatipov to the presidency of the republic in Dagestan has increased the rating of Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, by 21 %, reaching 94 points.According to Davudov, in their attitude to the new head of the republic the respondents most often mentioned his desire to eliminate corruption and cleanse Dagestan of embezzlers; his competence, honesty, courage, rigor and knowledge of the problems of ordinary people. "At the same time, not everyone is happy with Abdulatipov’s personnel appointments. People are outraged that thieving officials just change one seat for another. However, people wonder when the corrupt officials who are guilty of Dagestan’s state of crisis will be punished," the president of the foundation said.With regard to the activities of the Republican government, it also has support. According to the survey, 52% of Dagestan residents are positive about the ability of the government. However, 26% of respondents expressed a pessimistic attitude, while 32% were undecided.According to Habib Davudov, the people of Dagestan consider it appropriate that the president-elect of the Republic would convene the Congress (forum) of the peoples of Dagestan on the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Dagestan. According to them, it will provide the president with additional legitimacy, and the people will feel involved in the election of a new president. It will be a kind of "revolution" to bring together the ideas of the people and government of the republic, and the decisions of the congress will be the expression of the will of the people of Dagestan.Ramadan Abdulatipov held a meeting today, during which he thanked the government, local mayors and law enforcement authorities for the preparation and implementation of the Victory Day celebrations."The country is engaged in the transformation process, and it will not be over in a few months," Abdulatipov said, adding that everyone who wants to deal with the problems of Dagestan should be involved in this process.
