Member of terrorist group on trial in Dagestan

The Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan has brought an indictment against  A.Shapiev, a member of the subversive and terrorist group "Makhachkala". A criminal case has been referred to the Supreme Court of the Republic for consideration.According to the republican prosecutor's office, A.Shapiev is accused of involvement in armed formations not envisaged by federal law, financing illegal armed groups, and an attempt on the life of a government official."At present, A. Shapiev is already serving a prison sentence. By the verdict of the Supreme Court of Dagestan from November 6, 2012, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the organization and management of a stable armed group (gang), and murders, robberies, arson of shops committed with members of the gang," the press-release of the prosecutor's office states.According to investigators, in June 2010 A. Shapiev engaged N. Hiraev to participate in an armed formation. In January 2011, A. Shapiev together with Hiraev made an attempt on the life of a Russian Federal Security Service official. In February 2011, A. Shapiev financed the IAF.On May 5, the prosecutor's office of the Republic, directed to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan a criminal case against N. Hiraev, who is accused of killing five hunters in the area of Karabudakhkent, and attempts on the lives of law enforcement officers. The criminal case against N. Hiraev is in the trial stage.Moreover, N. Hiraev involved in illegal armed groups one Agabekov, who helped Hiraev by providing shelter and food. The republican prosecutor's office opened a criminal case against Agabekov and sent it to court.M. Rustamov, who also helped Hiraev, was convicted on May 1, 2013.
