The Pacific Fleet of Russia has passed the Suez Canal and entered the Mediterranean Sea for the first time in decades, RIA Novosti cites spokesman of the fleet First-Rank Captain Roman Martov.
The ships Admiral Panteleyev, Admiral Nevelsky, Peresvet, Fotiy Krylov and Pechenga left Vladivostok on March 19. They are on their way to Limassol on Cyprus.
Russia is forming the Mediterranean Squadron.
