Chechen youth sweeps forest

An action titled "The Forest - Our Wealth" began today in the area of the Chernorechensk springs in Grozny.The purpose of the action is to draw public attention to the problems of conservation, restoration and enhancement of forests.The action has been held in Russia every year since 2011, and is dedicated to Forest Planting Day.Employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Chechen Republic, students and teachers of the Grozny branch of the state budget educational institution "Absheron Forestry College", members of the patriotic movement "Ahmad", the regional branch of the party "United Russia", the staff of "Management of Protected Areas of the Chechen Republic" as well as professionals from the "Kurchaloevsk forestry" took part in the improvement of the Chernorechensk springs area.The action's participants will collect litter and solid waste from the forest."This is not a one-off event, but regular, systematic work to maintain in proper condition the Chernorechensk forest and springs within its territory. In the past three years, environmentalists from the national environmental services carried out raids to detect violations in the sphere of environmental protection. This forest with unique natural springs is considered the pantry for the city's water intake. Now these sources are the main supplier of water to the capital of the Chechen Republic," Minister Lema Magomadov said.The Chernorechensk forest is a protected natural area, the "lungs" of the city of Grozny. Its territory covers an area of ​​19,000 hectares.
