Christians celebrate the Palm Sunday

The Ortodox celebrate the  Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem, one the Twelve Major Festivals, also called the Palm Sunday( which is  called in Russia The Violet willow Sunday ). The festival began with the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Redeemer, conducted by  Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Cyril  (the mass began at 9.30 am Moscow time), the Primate’s  press-service reports. In the morning the main cathedral of the capital was filled with thousands of  believers, as in the previous years,  RIA novosti reports.
During the following days of the Passion Week  the Primate will celebrate divine morning and evening services daily in different cathedrals and cloisters   of the capital and  Moscow Region. It is in the Cathedral of the Redeemer where the major patriarchic services  will be conducted.
The Great Fast is concluded with the Palm Sunday However, during the Passion Week  the pious believers  go on fasting and praying  even more zealously, letting through their souls the most lamentable Gospel events and preparing for the main,  the most radiant Orthodox festival - the Resurrection.
