Two blasts in the Moscow metro killed some 35 people in on Monday morning, Reuters said, citing an emergencies ministry spokesperson.
The first bomb occurred at 7:56 a.m. (03:56 GMT) at the central Moscow station of Lubyanka, killing 22 and injuring 11.
The second blast happened some 40 minutes later at the nearby Park Kultury station, killing at least 15 people and injuring over 10.
“The epicenter of the blast was the platform,” the spokesperson said.
Russia’s top investigator, Vladmir Markin, said the bombs were detonated by female suicide bombers.
Central Moscow is at a standstill and the injured are being taken to hospital by helicopter.
