Russians protest against demolition of church in Turkey

The latest plans for the Galataport project have forced Russian community to take legal action in order to preserve the historical Hagia Elia church, which faces the risk of being demolished, Hürriyet Daily News reports. 

The Istanbul Salıpazarı Port also known as Galataport and located in Karaköy is expected to be privatized. According to the current plans, the port and its surrounding area will be improved after the privatization. This means that the Hagia Elia Church located in Karaköy is currently at risk of demolition.
