Chechen Ombudsman Nurdi Nukhajiyev has accused the Rossiya TV Channel of ethnic strife, Grozny-Inform reports.
The official believes that the channel has been encouraging separation of North Caucasus since 2012. He noted a report by the channel’s journalist Yevgeny Popov in New York about discrimination of Russian speakers in the Stavropol Territory on Sunday. The ombudsman points out connection between the report and arrival of Dagestani acting President Ramazan Abdulatipov and Chechen Speaker of Parliament Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov to Stavropol.
Nukhajiyev emphasized that there were no tensions between followers of Islam and Russian speakers and added that he will file a report to the police to have the channel checked.
