Military transport aircraft have started the redeployment of units from airfields in central Russia, and the first combat crews of air defense battalions had already arrived at the Ashuluk range near Astrakhan after the announcement of a sudden inspection of Air and Space Defence troops, the Defense Ministry reports.
As previously reported, the Russian Defense Ministry has made a sudden inspection of the Air and Space Defenses and Far and Military Transportation Aviation. 8,700 people, 185 combat jets and 240 armored vehicles were mobilized.
"Immediately after the discharge from the military aircraft, air defense forces began receiving military equipment and air defense systems to start the march across the steppe to the designated area. Battle calculations in the next few hours will provide cover assigned areas to detect and destroy aircraft and ballistic targets represented by a real target," RIA News quotes the ministry.
