Turkish police are looking for a Turkish citizen, Murat Alucha, who is suspected of murdering a Chechen businessman, local media report.
The Chechen businessman, Medet Unlyu, who called himself an "honorary consul" of the so-called Republic of Ichkeria, was killed in Ankara last week. According to preliminary data, there were two perpetrators. One stayed outside in the car, the other rang the doorbell and shot the businessman when he opened the door.
According to the information portal Enson Haber, the police are looking for a Turkish citizen, Murat Aluch, nicknamed "Uncle Murat." Aluch has served two years in prison on charges of participating in an organized criminal group.
It has been reported that locals, who were shown the video from the crime scene, identified Alucha and his accomplice named Omer.
Medet Unlyu does not represent the official authorities of the Chechen Republic, the chief of the Department of External Affairs and the head of the Chechen government, Isa Khadzhimuradov, said. The spokesman for the regional head, Alvi Karimov, said the crime has nothing to do with Chechnya.
