Russia marks International Children's Day

On June 1st Russia marks International Children's Day, which was first celebrated in 1950.

Festive activities are being held all over Russia. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov stressed the importance of supporting children in a special message. "Children are our future, our main pride," Kadyrov said.

The head of the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, Rashid Temezov, also took part in the celebrations. He attended a charitable event and made a 100,000-rouble contribution.
