Turkish communities in foreign states support Istanbul protests

A group of about 60 Turks have held a meeting at the Square of Fountains in Baku to support ecologists protesting on the Taksim Square in Istanbul to stop construction of a trade center instead of the Gezi Park.

Hakan Tas of the Berlin City Council said that protests were held at the Turkish Embassy as expression of solidarity to the ecologists who had suffered from a crackdown in Istanbul.

300 Turks in Amsterdam were shouting slogans against Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Other cities in Europe and the US held protests as well.

Erdogan calls the accusations unjust. He said that the authorities had planted 3 billion tries and created 160 national parks.
