Azerbaijan declares Caballe persona non grata after her trip to Karabakh

The famous opera singer Montserrat Caballe was today declared persona non grata in Azerbaijan for illegally visiting Nagorno-Karabakh."We sent a note of protest to the Spanish side, explaining the whole situation, and demanded an explanation relating to Caballe's visit to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The note stated that Caballe will not receive an Azerbaijani visa, as she becomes persona non grata," Interfax quotes the statement of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Spain. As it turned out, before the trip, in May, the Embassy informed the manager of the singer that a visit to Nagorno-Karabakh will inevitably have an impact on the attitude of Azerbaijan to Caballe. "The managers of the singer were informed that a visit to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan without the permission of Baku is illegal," the embassy stressed.
