The Minister of Interior of Turkey, Muammer Guler, announced today the sad statistics of losses over the past few days since the beginning of the first clashes with demonstrators in Istanbul: 516 security personnel were injured during the fighting and had to be hospitalized.
Thus, the Turkish citizens who protested at first for environmental reasons, then followed by general political reasons, have given an adequate response to the crackdown of the protests by the authorities, who admitted that the actions carried out by the police were too rough.
Guler added that only a couple of people in Izmir are still in custody. More than a hundred detainees have been released already.
