In the Krasnodar region the next-generation radar "Voronezh-DM" missile warning system is active on duty.
"The Armavir separate radio center atonement started its duty," the commander of the Aerospace Defense, Major General Alexander Golovko, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The commissioning of the new radar in Armavir will fully compensate for Russia's refusal to use the radar station in Gabala (Azerbaijan), the commander of a separate radio center, Colonel Vladimir Severov, said. "This station fully compensates for Russia's withdrawal from Azerbaijan and Ukraine. According to its performance characteristics, the station is able to maintain control for missile-threat in its area of responsibility," Severov said.
The ceremony of setting the station in Armavir on alert was held on the birthday of the creator of the "Voronezh" radar - the Chief Designer of NPK "NIIDAR", Sergei Saprykin. The commander of ASD Major-General Alexander Golovko passed on his greetings.
As previously reported by Vestnik Kavkaza, the agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan to lease the Gabala radar station, which had been effective until December of this year, "had fulfilled its task," Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said.
