Georgia to allocate 80,000,000 GEL for housing of refugees

The Minister of Regional Development of Georgia David Narmania and his deputy Shota Murgulia held a working meeting with the UN expert on human rights of internally displaced persons Chaloka Beyani and his party. As the Ministry reported today, the sides discussed how to improve the living conditions of refugees.

The sides noted that this year the Georgian government is going to allocate 80 million GEL on projects to help the refugees and construction. The money will be used to rebuild infrastructure in places of compact settlement of the refugees and to build new homes in Poti and Zugdidi. Special attention was paid to building housing for refugees in Zugdidi.

David Narmania said that in Zugdidi for refugees seven five-story buildings for 280 families will be built. The project is implemented with the support and funding of KFW.

The Minister touched on a number of issues of social and economic integration of refugees and said that along with the improvement of their living conditions their employment and social integration are of paramount importance, Trend reports.
