Organizers and performers of brutal attempts to demolish a house in Astrakhan, along with all its inhabitants, were arrested today.
The dispute has been going on for five years. A house on Amurstaya Street in Astrakhan stands on a plot of land to which the municipality and a construction company have claims.
The municipality declares that the land should be confiscated for municipal needs, and the construction company has already started building a new high-rise on the site. In May, there were two attempts to set the house on fire, followed by the house being blocked by an impenetrable fence, and water, gas and electricity supplies were cut off several times.
"They drove to the house in a bulldozer. Two people have been detained: the head of the construction company and the bulldozer driver. There is a suspicion that one of them is drunk," RIA News quotes the police report.
Witnesses say that even the police presence did not stop the builders. "The police tried to stop them, to stop the bulldozer, but the bulldozer driver proceeded. Three rooms have been damaged. There have been no causalties, even though one woman was inside the building," one of the witnesses says.
