The Southern Federal District of Russia has over 57,000 volunteer firefighters split into 2,000 groups, Interfax reports.
The volunteers will have insurance for health and risks, free treatment at sanatoriums, free tickets to culture centers and other benefits. Their families will receive compensations for injuries and death of the volunteers.
Anatoly Suprunovsky, deputy head of the regional fire services, said that distant residential areas of the region needed volunteer firefighters, because reaching them takes a lot of time.
