Rector of Moscow State University upset about current standard of Russian school graduates

The standard of education of Russian schoolchildren has fallen in recent years, the rector of the Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichiy, said today at a press conference.

"For various reasons, the level of training of students is lower than 20 years ago. Clearly, this is a problem for society," RIA Novosti quotes the rector.

Sadovnichiy noted that the students with 100 points for USE, the winners of Olympiads, and children with disabilities are the best students. Students with lower scores on the exam and children of military personnel have more problems.

Victor Sadovnichiy also said that every year MSU accepts about 7.5 thousand students. 4 thousand of them study for free, and 3.5 thousand on a contract basis.
