Georgia has started the first stage of census, questioning the population of Adjara, Guria and Kakheti. Composition of preliminary lists will continue in other regions in November 2013, Georgia Online cites Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure David Narmania and Executive Director of the National Statistical Service Zaza Chelidze.
Chelidze urged the population to take part in the process so that the government could improve efficiency of its programs.
The census has a budget of 18 million lari ($1 = 1.6553 lari). The first results of the census will be published by spring 2015.
Georgia’s latest census was organized in 2002.
