Police from Dagestan embezzle over 20 million rubles from insurance company

Employees of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan received 1 million rubles each from an insurance company by providing false documents on disability, said the head of the Prosecutor General's Office in the North Caucasus Federal District, Alexei Tsukanov.

"In Dagestan, the prosecutor's office when checking the republican Interior Ministry has found that a number of officials from the Ministry submitted to the insurance company "VTB Insurance" forged documents of a disability group, including forged certificates about the circumstances of the insured event”, Tsukanov said.

As a result of these actions, insurance payments in the amount of 1 million rubles per person were directed to a Stavropol Bank accounts, which "were later cashed and stolen”, according to representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

A criminal case is initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale) and Part 2 of Art. 327 (forgery of an official document to conceal another crime or facilite its commission) of the Criminal Code.

The management of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the North Caucasus Federal District reports that 21 people submitted forged certificates, according to Interfax.
