A department to work with sports fans will be set up in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. This was announced at the press service of the Ministry.
The effectiveness of the work of police officers at sporting events is sharply reduced because of lack of information on criminal intents of groups belonging to various sports clubs.
"In connection with the preparations for the Russian World Cup in 2018, the leadership of the Interior Ministry decided to establish a department for work with sports teams and fans,” the source reports.
The Statistics Office says that 33.4% of the total number of spectators who attended a 2012 sporting event are games with clubs in the Russian Premier League and the Continental Hockey League. The vast majority - 70% - of violations on the stadiums and grounds are made at Premier League matches.
It is reported that last year the police involved more than 335 thousand employees to maintain order at football matches - 4.6% fewer than the previous year.
It should be noted that last week the State Duma adopted in the second reading a bill to impose sanctions for fans breaking the rules of behavior at sports events, RIA "Dagestan" reports
