Levada Center publishes opinions polls about 2014 Olympic Games

62% of Russians are proud that the country will host the Winter Olympic Games of Sochi in 2014 and the World Football Championship of 2018, 29% call it a waste of money, Interfax cites the Levada Center’s opinion polls.

45% consider the events important and necessary, compared with 52% expressing such opinion in 2011. The number of people with a contrary view increased from 32% to 44$.

43% (49% in 2011) believe that the funds spent on the Olympic Games and the Football Championship will pay off, 46% (36%) have an opposite opinion.

22% believe that the finances spent on the Sochi Olympic Games are used efficiently, 19% insist that the funds are stolen.
