Alexander Goryunov, the driver of the fuel tanker of Helios who died yesterday in Almaty in an accident and the subsequent fire, committed a heroic deed by making sure there were not many victims, the deputy mayor of Alma-Ata, Yuri Ilyin said.
According to Ilyin, an investigation is being conducted to evaluate the technical state of the tanker. "However, according to the information currently available, and the video cameras which recorded the time of the incident, it can be said that whatever the conclusion of the technical expertise of the vehicle at the time, I believe that the driver, who, unfortunately, died, made a heroic act," Ilyin said.
