In the first stage of the All-Russian contest "Russia 10" Grozny central mosque named after the first President of the Chechen Republic Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov, "Heart of Chechnya", has become an absolute record for the number of votes (up to 900,000 votes), both in the North Caucasus Federal District, and in Russia in general.
The news caused a great resonance in Chechnya. However, as noted by the local media, it's not a victory yet, as from July 1 to September 1, 2013 the serious fight in the second round will take place, where 80 contestants - 10 objects from each of the Federal District will participate. The votes cast in the first round of today are reset, and the finalists will be, as in the first round, determined by the vote online at www.10russia.ru and www.10rossiya.rf.
Central Mosque, named after the first President of the Chechen Republic Akhmad Kadyrov, "Heart of Chechnya", is located in the capital city of Grozny, it was opened on October 17, 2008, and is perhaps one of the most beautiful and majestic Muslim holy sites in Europe and around the world.
The mosque is located on the picturesque bank of the River Sunzha in the middle of a huge park (14 acres) and is part of the Islamic center, which also is home to the Russian Islamic University, Kunta-Haji and the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Chechnya.
The mosque is built in the classical Ottoman style. The central hall is covered with a huge dome (diameter - 15,5 m, height - up to 32 m). The height of the four minarets at 63 meters, is the highest minarets in Russia. Exterior and interior walls are marble, travertine, and the interior is decorated with white marble. 36 chandeliers installed in the mosque, with its shapes resemble three main shrines of Islam: 27 chandeliers mimic the mosque Qubbat al-Sahra in Jerusalem, 8, modeled Rovzat-Nebevi mosque in Medina, and the biggest one, eight-meter chandelier, repeats the forms Kaaba shrine in Mecca .
