Trial of emergency case on "Zorb" attraction in Karachay-Cherkessia is rescheduled for July 8

The Karachay district court has postponed a hearing into the case of a tourist's death on the attraction "Zorb" in Dombai until July 8 because of the absence of the representative of the victim, the spokesman of the Supreme Court of KCR Alibek Botas said.

"The sides' debate on the case had been postponed until July 8 in connection with the fact that today the representative of the injured party cannot not come to court," Botas said.

The case is devoted to a resident of the Republic, Ravil Chekunov. He is accused of providing services that did not meet safety standards and resulted in the death of one person. The case is considered in a general way, as the court dismissed the petition of the accused for the proceedings in a specific order.

As Vestnik Kavkaza previously reported, on January 3 of this year the tourist Denis Burakou and his friend Vladimir Shcherbov ascended by cable car from the village to the top of the Mountain outside Dombai Mussa-Achitara. There, the men decided to go for a ride on the extreme attraction "Zorb": a person is placed in a transparent ball and rolls down a mountain or crosses a pond. The attraction cost 300 rubles to go on.

In the end the ball with the tourists inside strayed from the path and fell into the Gonachkhir Gorge from a slope of 70-80 degrees - Burakou died and Shcherbov was hospitalized with serious injuries.
