Two community activists in Kazakhstan, the artist Ashat Akhmediarov and representative of the social movement "Abyroi" Maxat Aisautov, expressed today their dissatisfaction with the fall of the "Proton-M" rocket near the "Baikonur" cosmodrome. They planted a pig, painted in the colors of the Russian flag, on the steps of the Russian consulate in Uralsk (the administrative center of the West Kazakhstan region)
The participants were quick to disown the performance of any anti-Russian sentiment, saying that they have been "brought up in the best traditions of the Russian classics," and stressed that they only wanted to express their outrage at the failed rocket launch.
The activists stood in front of the consulate with the pig for ten minutes, and then were removed and detained by the police. Akhmediarov was fined 5,193 tenges (1,135 rubles), the fates of Aysautov and the pig are unknown, Gazeta.ru reports.
