Russian president Vladimir Putin today unveiled a monument to Dagestani poet Rasul Gamzatov. The monument was erected on Yauzsky Boulevard in Moscow.
President Putin called Gamzatov a great son of Dagestan and Russia. He also welcomed the idea of shooting a film about the Dagestani poet.
The ceremony was attended by Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov, his Ingush counterpart Yunus-bek Yevkurov, member of the Federation Council Ilyas Ukhmanov and acting mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin.
