Rare publications missing in state university of Tbilisi

39 rare publications in the Russian language from the 18th and 19th centuries were stolen from the library of the Javakhishvili Georgian State University, according to the press-service of the Ministry of Education, News Georgia reports.


The library’s stock was inspected after the arrest of people suspected of stealing the books and organizing their transport to Ukraine for sale.


The total cost of the books stolen is tens of thousands of euros, the head of internal auditing of the Ministry of Education, Irakliy Andronikashvili, said.


‘Rustavi-2’ reported that the administration of the university suspended the powers of the head of the library, Tamar Nemsitsveridze, who was appointed in 1997.
