Iranian opposition says that a secret nuclear facility is under construction 10km west of Demavend and about 60km away from Tehran, Lenta.ru reports.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said that two out of four tunnels of the facility were 550m long. It had six large underground rooms. Opposition adds that the construction started in 2006.
The NCRI was the first organization to report about uranium enrichment at Natanz in 2002 and heavy water production at Arak. The US said that it was aware of the activities for years, but had no evidence of its relation to the nuclear program.
The information of the opposition seems suspicious because it appeared after Hassan Rouhani’s victory in the presidential polls. He replaced Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Western states believe that the new president may boost the peaceful settlement of the nuclear program.
