Usmanov becomes top philanthropist of 2012

Alisher Usmanov, co-owner of Metalloinvest, has become the top philanthropist of Russia in 2012. He spent $180 million for charity, 46% of all philanthropic expenditures, Forbes reports.

Forbes requested reports on philanthropy from 50 rich Russians. Only 8 of them responded. They spent a total of $390 million for charity.

Roman Abramovich, owner of Millhouse Capital and the Chelsea FC spent $111 million for charity. He is followed by Usmanov’s business partner Andrey Skoch who spent $40.2 million.
