A new president of the Tbilisi State University named after Ivane Javakhishvili will be elected on August 16, News Georgia cites Professor David Bostoganashvili, head of the Electoral Commission.
There are 19 candidates for election. Each will have 3 days to correct documents needed for application. A candidate needs unanimous votes to be elected.
President of the university Alexander Kvitashvili resigned on June 12 as a protest against amendments to the law on education.
