Drug crime rate drops in Chechnya

349 drug-related crimes have been registered in Chechnya this year, compared with 362 crimes in 2012, ITAR-TASS cites Col. Mahmoud Taymaskhanov, head of the Chechen directorate of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service.

The official noted increase of the volume of narcotics confiscated by officers. About 30kg of narcotics have been confiscated this year. He added that the rate of drug-related crimes had been dropping in the past years.

24 centers distributing narcotics have been found and 58 cases of their distribution registered and two drug houses closed down in Chechnya this year.
