The wife of Georgian Premier Nika Gilauri, 25 year old Marina Shamugiya, has given birth to a daughter. The girl was named Mari, Tbilisi newspaper ‘Kvela Siakhle’ reported, citing the premier’s father-in-law Giya Shamugiya. Mari is the first child in the Gilauri family.
Nika Gilauri was born on February 14th 1975 in Tbilisi, graduated from the department of economic relations of the State University of Tbilisi, then studied in Ireland and the USA and has a masters degree. In 2000-2001 he worked as a financial consultant for energy saving projects at the center of small business development in Philadelphia. In 2001-2004 he worked in various business energy companies of Georgia. In 2004-2007 he was the minister of energy, from August 30th 2007 to January 30th 2009 he was Georgian finance minister and on January 30th 2009 he was appointed as premier of Georgia.
Nika and Marina married in 2009. Marina graduated at the State University of Tbilisi and participated in the ‘Miss Georgia-2004’ contest.
